Demolition Permit

A demolition permit is required before you take down all or part of a building, and the process is much the same as for a building permit. If you would like to demolish a building, please complete the Application for a Permit to Construct or Demolish.

Please see Building Fees By-Law 2024-22 for complete details.

Once a demolition permit has been issued by the Chief Building Official you must contact the relevant services providers including:

  • Electrical Safety Authority
  • Enbridge Gas
  • Ontario One Call

Where a structure has been damaged by fire, explosion, or by any other nature or man-made force, all damaged materials shall be removed from the property within 30 days of such damage.

Need help planning your demolition? Check out our Guide to Demolishing a Structure for step-by-step instructions to make the process as smooth and safe as possible.
