The Township of Bonfield is full of wildlife, including birds and mammals. Wildlife is always best viewed from a distance.
Prevention of Nuisance Wildlife
To prevent wildlife from becoming a nuisance follow these simple guidelines.
Do:
- appreciate wildlife from a distance
- keep household waste, compost and pet food out-of-reach from wild animals
- attract wildlife to your property by improving natural habitat
- work together with your neighbours to help keep wild animals wild
Don’t
- put out food to attract wildlife
- try to approach or touch wild animals
- feed pets outdoors or allow pets to roam free
- put garbage out until the morning of collection
Feeding Wildlife
The Township of Bonfield does not have municipal by-laws preventing the feeding of wildlife however the Ministry of Natural Resources provides great information on the do’s and don’t of feeding wildlife.

If you feel there is an immediate threat to a person from wildlife, call 9-1-1
