Lost and Found Pets

Lost Pets

  • Check our Facebook page to see if your dog has been impounded or if someone has reported finding your pet.
  • Talk to your neighbours. Bring a recent photo to help them recognize your pet.
  • Walk around your neighbourhood. Call your pet’s name and keep an eye out. Bring a photo to show people you meet along the way.
  • Create a “Lost Pet” poster. Include a clear photo and important details such as your pet’s name, breed, sex, age, colour, and when and where they were last seen. Be sure to include your phone number. Please note: Posting signs on utility poles is not allowed.

Found Pets

If you have found a dog, contact the By-law Enforcement Department at 705-776-2641 and an officer will retrieve the found dog and take to the municipal pound.

If you make the decision to hold onto the found pet, the By-law Department recommends that you do all things possible to find the owner - posters, radio, social media.

Remember: A Municipal Dog License is the best way to ensure that your dog returns home.
