Notice of Public Open House and Statutory Public Meeting Bonfield Official Plan

A Special Meeting of Council was held September 11, 2026 and the following resolution was adopted 
which effectively has cancelled the public meetings and paused the adoption of the Official Plan.

 
The project will commence in 2027.  In the meantime, all the information will remain on the municipal

WHEREAS Council, Committees and stakeholders have been working on a new updated Official Plan; 
and  
WHEREAS Council and all stakeholders desire and strive for constructive and in-depth comments on the 
draft Official Plan to provide a Plan that meets the Provincial Policy but is also right for Bonfield; and  
WHEREAS the upcoming election has placed unwarranted negative cogitations on the Official Plan 
without any known content concerns within the Plan.   
Nowtherefore, Council instructs staff to pause the Official Plan and Zoning bylaw Update to ensure final 
documents are constructively reviewed; and further that all related documents, including the current 
Official Plan, the draft Official Plan, the Ministry One Window Comments and the Provincial Policy 
Statement remain on the municipal website to ensure candidates, residents, property and business 
owners can continue to learn of the proposed changes.
