2026 Capital Road Program Update

A big thanks to our Public Works team for all the work they are doing to improve the roads throughout the Township.  Your dedication and effort have not gone unnoticed and is greatly appreciated. 

There will be a lot of action in the next three weeks and here is what residents need to know:

Trunk and Gagnon

Paving:  The PW Manager is back from vacation and confirmed this morning that Miller Paving will be arriving on Friday to prepare for paving of Gagnon Street and Trunk Road next week.  Permits have been submitted to OVR for paving on Railway for Tuesday. 

Farmer’s Line

The Quarry A gravel has been applied to Farmer’s Line along with the calcium.  The materials along the side will be cleaned up when the PW Crew can get back to Farmer’s Line for ditching this fall. 

Development Road

The continuation of surface treatment on Development Road will include the section from Rutherglen Line to McNutt Road this year.  The PW Crew spent last week completing final preparations and a culvert replacement.  Work is expected at this point to start on August 31, for the double surface treatment.  Remember it will take a bit of time, depending on traffic, to compact the road and there will be loose gravel and dust until it all binds together. 

Sunnyside Road

The section on Sunnyside Road at the boundary with East Ferris will be surface treated when Development Road is treated.  The PW Crew removed a lot of clay and rebuilt the base of this section to prolong the life of this project. 

Please slow down in construction zones.

Please drive with caution in these areas and follow the traffic control instructions.  When our PW Crew is flagging it’s so the road remains open and there is less disruption for you, please slow down and give them space when moving in the construction area.  A few minutes of patience can prevent a serious injury.  Everyone working on our roads deserves to return home safely at the end of the day.
