Hydro One Update
Crews and their contracted partners are out in full force working safely and quickly as possible. While they expect to make significant progress restoring power today, some of customers in hard to reach locations may be without power until tomorrow. Outages were caused by damage from Saturday night’s severe thunderstorms - largely due to tree limbs and branches coming down on lines and equipment.
Given the extreme heat forecasted for the next few days, we are encouraging customers who are without power to visit their municipality’s website for information on cooling centres. For information on how to prepare for an extended outage visit https://www.hydroone.com/power-outages-and-safety/emergency-preparedness.
Hydro One would like to share the following safety tips:
- It’s critical to stay far away from any fallen power lines. If you see a downed lines, stay at least 10 metres back and report it to 911 and to Hydro One.
- If you are using a generator, ensure that it is outside, far from any windows or vents.
- Customers with damage to their home’s electrical equipment (ex. stack/pipe where the powerline from the road connects to their home), need to follow the Electrical Safety Authority’s process to get the repairs done- https://esasafe.com/safety/storm-safety/restoring-power.
Hydro will continue to share updates as restoration efforts progress.
